Khatibi began his career in the film industry as a screenwriter and director in 1949 with his debut feature comedy film, The Spring Awakening. From 1949-1976, Khatibi wrote, produced, and directed 36 films. His screenwriting credits include "Qeysar" (1969) and "Reza, the Motorcyclist" (1970), both directed by Masoud Kimiai. However, it was his work as a director that would cement his place in the history of Iranian cinema.
Khatibi's films often dealt with social and political issues in Iranian society, exploring themes such as poverty, corruption, and the struggle for freedom and justice. His films were known for their poetic and introspective qualities, reflecting the director's own intellectual and philosophical interests. Khatibi's work was also marked by a deep concern for the human condition, as he explored the complexities and contradictions of human behavior with sensitivity and compassion.
